Attitude of Gratitude

I'm in debt.
I'm not at the health status I'd like to be.
None of the programs on my computer are working after an upgrade.

Sometimes I'm overwhelmed by all there is to get down on in my life. But then when I practice what I preach in yoga - I look at one thing I'm grateful for, and the world shifts. It's such a simple thing, you think I'd have it ingrained in my consciousness to do so. But alas, however I'm wired, it just takes some reminding.

Last week I got my yoga students to list just one thing they were grateful for at that very moment in time. We created an intention of gratitude though out the class that absolutely uplifted the energy. Because really, there's always going to be someone better at yoga than you. There's always going to be someone who rocks their booty in those yoga pants better than you. There's always another who'll earn more money, be more happy, yadda yadda yadda… When we focus on this stuff no wonder we feel heavy, downtrodden and overwhelmed.

I promise you though, that you will always have things in your life to make you smile - a roof over your head, a loving family, a best friend, ice cream, whatever it is today, right now, there's something that will make you smile.
What are you grateful for, right now, in this very moment?

I kept those lists from that yoga class, and I'm sharing them with you now. If you're in a dark place, or even if today's just a bit tiring, have a look below, see if you identify with any of these gratitudes, and take them on as your own. Because you're pretty damn fine yourself : )

You will get through it all.

I remember wondering if I'd ever get out of debt, but now I'm getting to the end of it I'm so glad I just kept going with my plans (a little at a time).

Similarly, your health will improve, too. Just stay on it, keep believing in your body and keep on yoga-ing! :)
