Younga Yoga Studio Review

Imagine that every person in the world is enlightened but you. They are all your teachers, each doing just the right things to help you learn perfect patience, perfect wisdom, perfect compassion. Jack Kornfield

Going to a new yoga studio is a good reminder of newness - it's always a little off-putting when you don't know where the bathroom is, the changeroom, or how they lay the mats out in the class! And while you may be a regular yoga student, each teacher, each school has their own way of describing classes, of timing and flow.

So it was with this flutter of uncertainty that last week I walked into my first class at Younga Yoga Studio in Wollongong. Last to arrive, it took a couple of moments for my breath to slow down so it was lovely to start the class with some nice, slow pranayama, and take in the scents and feeling of the studio.

And the feeling? It's a gorgeous looking space and they've created just the right vibe for it. Apparently the studio has been designed using all recycled materials, and there are gorgeous natural timber floors and beautifully warm colours on the walls. It really is like you've escaped the city buzz and have landed in this other-world.

The class itself was an open level vinyasa class - much slower than I generally like but that is something I need to work on (slowing down!) ;) Beautiful instruction, always coming back to the breath, and lots of different options for whatever level you may be at... Deb (the teacher, and owner of the studio) was so welcoming and friendly.

The class was 90 minutes and let me tell you, it flew by. I could easily have stayed there for much longer!

Many thanks Younga Yoga, for such a beautifully inspiring and relaxing class during my holidays. And to the people of Wollongong (or should anyone pass through), be sure to check out this studio! A gem in the city : )

PS - fabulous site I came across in blogland - Judith Lasater.
